Darius Weems has Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy, and 25 film festival awards.

His friends decided there was no need for his quality of life to disintegrate along with his muscles.

They took Darius, who had never seen mountains, the ocean or even crossed the state line, on the adventure of a lifetime. They took cameras along for the ride, and the funny, moving and touching result is “Darius Goes West.”

“Darius proves that life has no limits, even for those in a wheelchair.”

Logan Smalley, Darius’ friend and the documentary’s director, also wrote the music.

So far the film has raised $800,000 for Muscular Dystrophy research.
