Awesome! I really hope you watch this. I already know about biomimicry, but this presents … the solutions to all the world’s problems(?). Engineers are now studying nature because they find their problems have already been solved by animals and plants over thousands or millions of years of trials. How can water treatment engineers prevent calcification inside pipes? Well if you know that shells are also made of calcium carbonate, you might wonder: if clams are able to attract the calcium carbonate from the water into forming shell, why does the shell not keep thickening with more calcium carbonate? The answer to that answered the challenge faced by the engineers. That’s one of a dozen examples – others could save the ‘health’ (hospitability) of the planet. (Again,) I want to be an engineer!
