“Ahead of the Class” is based on the true story of one woman’s determination to make a difference in a London, England inner-city school that is on the verge of closure. After the murder of its headmaster, St. George’s School is mired in absenteeism, vandalism and violence.

Marie Stubbs … believed that students will want to attend a school if they’re proud of it. Despite facing challenges and resistance from both students and teachers, she transformed the decaying school into a place of growth and optimism.
